Just wanted to update you on when we might be able to start classes again and how they might look.
First and foremost, everyone’s safety must, and will, come first!
Currently any groups of more than 2 people are not permitted. It looks likely, in the near future, that small groups with increased numbers will be able to meet whilst still observing social distancing.
I’m working towards starting small Nordic Walking classes by the beginning of July. If things continue to evolve as per HMG’s plan, this seems practical. All walks will still be observing social distancing!
With regard to how these classes will operate this will depend largely on what is permitted. Provisionally, classes will be restricted to a maximum of 10. These will then be split into two groups, with Paul leading one group and me leading the other. We will be walking circular routes with the two groups walking in opposite directions. The instructors will swap groups at the halfway point meaning you all get the chance to be led (and shouted at 🤣) by each of us.
Where our numbers are generally more than 10 (i.e. Tuesdays) we will experiment with two classes (one at 9am and one at 10.15am), one workout walk and one more of a social walk with each class operating as described above.
All walkers will need to use their own poles where possible. Those without their own can borrow from me and keep hold of them for the time being.
My aim, as always, will be to provide classes that are fun and enjoyable and above all safe!
Take care and watch this space folks 👍🏃🏽♀️🏃🏽♂️❤️🌈
Right you lovely lot, it seems we won’t be meeting up for a while yet, so what have you all been up to?? Let me know what exercise you have been doing, either taking your allowed outside daily exercise, or online exercises? Come on, show me how good you’ve all been whilst out of my sight! 🤣❤️ You can message, text, email or comment in the Facebook post. Stay safe folks. ❤️❤️🌈
With a heavy heart, I am now suspending all activities provided by a Oxfordshire Fitness. We wanted to keep open as long as possible but things are changing quickly and now is the time where we sadly need to close. Please keep safe and look after yourselves. We will be back! I have weeks ahead of me now to plan new walks and exercises and have a good old spring clean! If you are out walking please take some photos and share them. Most importantly please look after yourselves, stay safe and talk lots, we can still connect by phone, text, messenger, WhatsApp and any other form of communication. We will be back walking just as soon as we can ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Due to the increasing threat of Corona Virus May I ask all walkers if you have a cough or temperature please do not come on a walk. It is important that we do our bit to help control the spread of the virus. We don’t need to panic just be sensible and aware of others who may be more vulnerable as well as yourselves.
The weather is still so wet and windy please come prepared for wet and muddy walks! We won’t cancel unless we really have to for safety reasons 😊.
Happy New Year to you all!
Merry Christmas and a Wonderful 2020 to all of our amazing Oxfordshire Fitness Family! 🎄🎉🥳🎁🎄

Charity walk update: reccee walk done this morning, 6 Miles, no cows, 4 – 5 stiles, 2 cattle grids, hills, lots of beautiful countryside, peaceful, what more could you want?! Bring drink and snacks, we will stop on the way. Plenty of places in Burford for coffee etc at the end if you’d like to stay on after the walk but please organise this between yourselves as I don’t know how many are coming and what time you’ll finish as you can either walk with us enjoying the scenery or take a marked map and walk on ahead. There is no charge from us for this walk but we request donations going towards Maggies Centre, Oxford. We recommend a minimum donation of £6.50 which would be the cost of a normal Saturday walk. https://www.maggiescentres.org/our-centres/maggies-oxford/ this is the link to the charity we are raising money for.
Postcode for the car park is OX184BP. It’s a free car park and there are public toilets there too.

Let me know if you can make it, it promises to be a fantastic walk, let’s raise some money for this brilliant charity and enjoy ourselves at the same time 😊😍.

SLIGHT CHANGE TO THE CHRISTMAS WALK:
CHRISTMAS WALK IS ON SATURDAY DECEMBER 15th STARTING AT THE ROSE REVIVED. It is a 5 mile route with coffee / tea and cake at The Rose Revived at the end. Please let me know if you can make it as I will need numbers for the pub.
Gloves will be available by the end of November, £16 a pair, a fantastic Christmas present especially for Nordic Walkers as they are thin enough to wear underneath pole glove. There are only 20 pairs altogether available before Christmas, so first come first served. Designs are shown below.
As we come into the potentially (more than likely,) wetter weather people have been asking about waterproof socks – I have found Sealskinz to be the best but I have also found Dexshell to be good too. Alternatively we can all squish along and see who can squish the loudest 🤣🤪
Thank you to everyone who donated to our Children In Need Ramble appeal last week. We raised £306 between us all! 👍👍❤️❤️

Christmas is coming up fast and we are looking forward to the Christmas meal on December 13th. 42 Oxfordshire Fitness ladies and gents are coming along and it promises to be a fantastic evening.
My thoughts are now turned towards the Christmas walk which is turning into a bit of an ‘event not to be missed on the calendar!’ This year it is on Saturday 16th December. We are starting from the White Hart car park at Fyfield (OX13 5LW) at 9am and walking to, and then alongside, the Thames to the Maybush for coffee and cake before walking back. Don’t forget to tinsel up your poles and get those Christmas jumpers, hats and anything else Christmassy that you can find and let’s get out and have a Nordic walkingly good time with lots of chat and Christmas cheer! Please let me know if you can make it so I can arrange enough cake! Forgot to say this years walk is in aid of The October Club which is an Alzheimer’s Day Care Centre in Wantage. Donations gratefully received rather than payment for the walk.
Just a very quick update on this morning’s Children in Need walk – so far the total we raised is standing at £173.50!! Well done and thank you to everyone who came along and donated
There will be a Nordic Walk for Children in Need on Thursday 16th November, this will be instead of the usual Thursday walk so you won’t be able to use your payment cards, instead I will be accepting donations for Children in Need. More details to follow soon.
There will be no Circuits on Thursday 16th November and no Nordic walks on Friday 17th, Saturday 18th or Monday 20th. LBT WILL be taking place on Monday 20th.
